Mitchell joined Waggonner & Ball in 2024 after receiving his master’s degree and teaching at Tulane University. A Gulf Coast native, Mitchell began his career in Pensacola, FL after graduating from Mississippi State University’s School of Architecture. His work experience includes hurricane-resilient residences, offices, and restaurants. A licensed architect in the state of Florida, Mitchell’s work has been recognized by the Los Angeles and Northwest Florida chapters of the American Institute of Architects.
Mitchell has an interest in buildings typically overlooked by the profession of architecture and the adaptive reuse of these structures, leading to his Tulane master’s work receiving the Thomas J. Lupo Award for metropolitan studies. His thesis reimagined a neighborhood strip mall in Los Angeles as a site for affordable housing and was published in the proceedings for the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture’s 2024 annual conference.
