Waggonner & Ball created an immersive, site-specific installation called “Ghosts of Net World” for a public performance staged by New Orleans Airlift for the world premiere of New Water Music, composed by Yotam Haber and performed by musicians of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra on a barge and in fishing boats at the Seabrook Boat Launch on Lake Pontchartrain. A grid of sixty-six “ghost columns” made of fishing net were suspended under the Industrial Canal bridge, recasting familar elements of muscular infrastructure as ephemeral and fragile as the diminishing coastline of Louisiana. The installation served as a meeting place for organizations dedicated to coastal issues.
